The Most Powerful Speaker Cabinet in the World

Born out of visiting sound checks of bands like 311, Limp Bizkit and Red Fang, the DoomBox™ is the first commercially available 1000 watt speaker cabinet on the market. Mike, our CMO, sits down to discuss what makes the DoomBox™ so f*cking loud.

Unlike the standard 4X12 cabinets with 30-watt speakers that struggle to handle the output of high-power amps, the DoomBox offers unparalleled performance without compromising sound quality. The DoomBox is more than just a high-power speaker cabinet; it’s Sunn’s nod to the doom metal community. This genre, known for its slow, powerful riffs, has long embraced Sunn’s robust sound, despite the company’s absence from the market in recent years. DoomBox aligns with the needs of this community by providing “no frills” power, designed with professional musicians in mind.

The cab’s four 250-watt drivers, created in collaboration with Eminence, ensure that this powerhouse can handle the intense sound pressures typical of doom and other heavy genres. It’s the first commercially available speaker cabinet with this high level of power handling, making it a significant innovation in live performance equipment.

Quality construction is at the heart of the DoomBox. Sunn uses marine-grade birch plywood with finger-jointed corners, assembled by hand on original 1930s machinery to ensure durability. This contrasts sharply with many 4X12s on the market today, which often use mass-produced MDF press wood that compromises on build quality. TheDoomBox’s craftsmanship aligns with Sunn’s legacy of creating equipment that lasts, focusing on durability rather than cutting corners. The DoomBox is offered only in black. Black Sunn Tolex, custom black grill… none more black.

One of the unique aspects of the DoomBox is its adaptability for both bass players and guitarists. Traditionally, bass players using 4X12 guitar cabinets often miss out on the full low-end range due to the limits of standard 30-watt speakers. Sunn tested various drivers to ensure that the DoomBox sound stays uniform without spikes in specific frequencies, allowing it to deliver pure, uncolored amplification that faithfully translates an amp’s volume and tone.

And… its loud as f*ck.
